Ridgefield is hosting the U-15 Babe Ruth District Four tournament this week with a berth in the state tournament on the line.

Ridgefield received a bye in the first round of the seven-team double elimination event and will face Bethel or Pomperaug on Monday at 11 a.m. at Ciuccoli Field in the winner's bracket semifinals.

If Ridgefield wins, it will play again on Wednesday at Ciuccoli Field at 5 p.m. If Ridgefield loses, it will play in the loser's bracket on Tuesday at Ciuccoli at 7 p.m.

The other teams participating are Watertown-Oakville, New Milford, New Fairfield and Newtown. The championship game is set for Saturday.

Ridgefield National earned its first win in the District One 12-year-old Little League tournament with an 8-7 victory over Norwalk on Sunday.

Ridgefield National improved 1-1 in pool B, tied for third with Norwalk (1-1) and trailing Darien American (3-0) and Wilton (2-0).

Ridgefield American was not as fortunate Sunday, falling to 0-2 in pool A following an 8-0 loss to Redding. It has been outscored 25-2 in its first two contests.

Ridgefield American plays again on Tuesday against Stamford Nothrop at Darien's McGuane Field (5:45 p.m.).

Ridgefield National will seek its second win on Tuesday against Darien National at Wilton's Bill Terry Field (5:30 p.m.). 

Each team will play six games in pool play, which continues through July 10. There were no games scheduled in the tournament on Thursday.
