The 10-year-old District One baseball semifinals will be played Saturday at 10 am.  Chestnut Hill Park will host the game between Wilton and Ridgefield National. Scalzi Park will host the game between Norwalk and North Stamford

The Ridgefield junior American Legion team posted a potentially critical 9-5 win over third-place Norwalk on Thursday.

Ridgefield, which is in fourth place in Zone Four, upped its record to 9-7, improving its chances to make the state tournament.

Teams in Zone Four need to finish one game over .500 and since they play a 27-game league schedule, the magic number is 14 wins. Ridgefield only needs to win five of its final 11 games to get in.

Ridgefield faces Wilton at Wilton High School at 2 p.m. and Westport on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Staples High School.

-- In the Little League District One 12-year-old tournament Thursday, Ridgefield American edged Stamford American 9-8 and Ridgefield National lost to Wilton, 4-2.

Wilton and Darien American have clinched the two semifinal playoff spots out of Pool B while Lione, North Stamford, Redding, Stamford American and Ridgefield American are battling for the two spots in Pool A. Ridgefield National has been eliminated.

-- Ridgefield advanced to the finals of the U-15 Babe Ruth District Four tournament with a 2-1 victory over New Milford on Wednesday night.  Ridgefield will play in the finals on Saturday.
