The Ridgefield Rebels traveling softball team won the 10U championship at the Hopewell Bad Girls Tournament in New Jersey on Sunday.
After going 1-2 in pool play on Saturday, the Rebels went 3-0 in bracket play to win the championship. The scores were 2-0 vs. Montgomery Jaguars (Belle Meade, N.J.), 13-0 vs. CYO Angels (Hainesport, N.J), and a 7-1 championship win over the Flemington Flames (Flemington, N.J).

Gillian Dinan, who will be a sixth grader at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan in the fall, is the Rebels' starting pitcher. In bracket play on Sunday, she pitched 9 innings, gave up no hits and struck out at total of 23 batters en route to the title
Two members of Ridgefield's Class L state championship club - Attackman Aiden Scott and midfielder Andrew Bucanavage - were named to the All-FCIAC boys lacrosse first team.

Defenseman Travis Tiger and long pole midfielder Matt Shannon were named to the second team while Matt Hrvatin, Matt Dighton and Jordan Nachowitz were honorable mention picks.
For the girls, Caroline Ogden and Morgan Hyland were first-team picks while Maggie Philbin, Taylor Fischer and Melissa Galione landed on the second team. Kathryn Cholko was an honorable mention selection.
-- Ridgefield American and Ridgefield National open play this week in the District One 12-year-old Little League tournament. Ridgefield American's first game is against National Lione (Stamford) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Stamford's Scalzi Park and Ridgefield National begins pool play on Friday against Federal (Stamford) at 5:45 p.m. at Stamford's Frank Noto Field.
