The sophomore attackman converted a feed from Steele Stanwick with 2:33 left in overtime as No. 7 seed Virginia avoided a huge upset with a 13-12 victory over unseeded Bucknell in the first round of the NCAA Division I lacrosse tournament.

The Cavaliers (10-5) advance to the quarterfinals in Hempstead, N.Y., where they will face No. 2 seed at noon on Saturday. The game will be televised in HD on ESPN2.

Ridgefield (8-7) is tied with Fairfield Ludlowe (8-7) for 10th place, one-half gane in back of Staples (8-7), and a full game behind Stamford (9-6), Wilton (9-6) and Fairfield Warde (9-6), who are tied for sixth.
Ridgefield has a huge game at Wilton on Monday, then hosts Norwalk on Wedneday and closes the regular season at home against Fairfield Ludlowe on Friday.
As far as tiebreakers, Ridgefield beat Stamford but lost to Fairfield Warde.
