Wednesday's boys lacrosse showdown between Darien and Ridgefield will be a battle of the top two teams in the state, according to the Laxpower.com state rankings.
No. 1 Darien enters the game 13-2 overall and 10-0 in the FCIAC while Ridgefield is 12-3 and 9-1.

Darien's only two losses came to national powers, including an 11-5 defeat to the Haverford School of Pennsylvania, which was ranked No. 1 in the country when it beat the Blue Wave. Darien's other defeat was a 10-7 setback to Long Island powerhouse Manhassett.
Ridgefield lost to Summit (NJ) 11-5 while its in-state defeats came to Greenwich (8-7) and Wilton (10-6) in consecutive games earlier this month.

The Tigers have rebounded with solid wins over Yorktown, N.Y (14-8) and McMahon (12-9), then drubbed Danbury 19-3 on Saturday. This is the final regular-season contest for both teams.
Darien's leading scorers are: junior Case Matheis (33 goals and 29 assists for 62 points), senior Richard Gregory (40-9-49) and senior Ben Preston (24-15-39).
Ridgefield's top three are: senior Andrew Buckanavage (38-7-45), junior Sean Riley (40-3-43) and senior Matt Hrvatin (13-27-40).
Darien is averaging 14 goals per game while Ridgefield is scoring at a 12.1 clip.
The Blue Wave have scored at least 20 goals in a game three times this season with their high-water mark a 21-2 victory over Danbury. Ridgefield's season high was 19 goals, accomplished twice.
-Caroline Ogden, Liana Mathias, Maggie Curran and Taylor Fischer all scored three goals Tuesday as the Ridgefield girls lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 17-6 victory over Norwalk.
Kathryn Cholko and Shauna Norris each added two goals and two assists for the Tigers (10-5), who in control from the jumping out to a 13-3 halftime lead. The other Ridgefield goal was scored Blake Divitto.
