Matt White's contribution wasn't quite as dramatic this time, but he still played a part in another win for the Virginia men's lacrosse team.
The Ridgefield graduate recorded two goals and an assist Saturday as the seventh-seeded Cavaliers upset No. 2 Cornell 13-9 to advance to the national semifinals next weekend in Baltimore.

Virginia, which lost to eventual national champion Duke in last year's semifinals, is making its fourth straight trip to the Final four.
Last week, White scored the overtime game-winner in Virginia's 13-12 victory over Bucknell in the first round.
On Saturday, Virginia's Dom Starsia won his 327th career game to become the winningest Division I lacrosse coach in NCAA history. He had been tied with Jack Emmer, the former long-time coach at Army.

In the semifinals set for next Saturday, the Cavaliers (11-5) will face No. 6 seed Denver, which upset No. 3 Johns Hopkins 14-9 on Saturday. Denver is looking to become the first team west of the Mississippi River to win a lacrosse national championship.
Colin Scott, White's former teammate at Ridgefield, is a sophomore attackman on the Denver team, although he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second game of the season and elected to red-shirt.
As a freshman last year, Scott played in 14 games, posting 12 goals and 13 assists to tie for fourth on the team in scoring with 25 points. He is hoping to move into a starting role next year.
