Ridgefield Scores and Standings, Nov. 9

The Ridgefield girls cross country squad won the team title Tuesday in the state Open cross country meet at Madison's Hammonasset State Park.

Sarah Guillaume was the Tigers' top finisher, placing 16th overall with a time of 19:26. She was followed by No. 19 Caroline Carr (19:29), No. 28 Samantha McCarthy (19:49) and No. 33 Marguarette McSpedon (19:59) and No. 40 Laura Hergenrother (20:04)

Ridgefield posted a team score of 83 points, 24 better than runner-up Guilford.

Greenwich (149) was third, followed by Cheshire (165), Simsbury (185), Glastonbury (187), Wilton (220), New Milford (255), Norwich Free Academy (260) and Fairfield Warde (266).

Greenwich's Abigail Markowitz finished third in the individual race with a time of 18:56, the only local runner in the top 10.   

The meet originally was scheduled for Friday at Manchester's Wickham Park was postponed. The location was moved because Wickham Park suffered damage in the recent snowstorm.

Tuesday's results do not include finishers from the Class SS race who will
be merged in to the final official results. Those results will be posted by the CIAC later in the week

Seven Ridgefield teams have advanced in the Fairfield County Football League playoffs. Because of last week's postponements, quarterfinal games in each age bracket will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the playoffs before Thanksgiving. Semifinal games are set for this weekend will the finals scheduled for next weekend.
