Its hopes for a state playoff berth now reduced to a long shot, the Ridgefield football team hopes to get back on track Friday when it hosts McMahon at 7 p.m.
After winning four in a row, the Tigers were upended 27-12 last week by Norwalk, which proved it is for real.
Ridgefield jumped out to a 12-7 lead against the Bears, but gave up 20 straight points and also surrendered eight sacks after its offense had looked so crisp for the past month.
Ridgefield junior quarterback Connor Rowe was held to minus-rushing yards in the loss.
McMahon (3-3) heads to Tiger Hollow on a bit of a roll, having won two in a row to climb back to .500. The Senators rolled over Fairfield Ludlowe 41-14 last week.
Ridgefield will have to contend with Senators' speedy running back Chris Jerome, who put on a show against Ludlowe.
Jerome rushed for three touchdowns and 130 yards in the first half - on just five carries - as the Senators built a 35-0 lead.
Jerome, who had TD runs of 65 and 63 yards and also caught a 48-pass TD pass from Ryan Davis, will be a handful for Ridgefield's defense.
