Ridgefield's Sue Ginter, who plays out of the Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton, finished tied for fifth Wednesday in the Lincoln Women's Met Open Championsip at the Canoe Brook Country Club.

After posting a 3-over par 75 in the first round on Tuesday, Ginter carded an even par 72 on Wednesday to complete 36 holes at 3-over 147.

She finished 11 strokes behind champion Liz Janengelo of Rockrimmon. Janengelo recorded a winning score of 8-under par 136.

The only other player under par was amateur Nicole Morales of GlenArbor Golf Club, who finished at 5-under 139.

Ginter played a steady round Wednesday with two bogeys, two birdies and 14 pars.

She bogeyed the first hole, but got that back with a birdie on No. 6. On the back nine, Ginter bogeyed No. 11 and birdied No. 12 before finishing with six straight pars.

The Ridgefield boys and girls soccer teams are scheduled to play scrimmages this weekend.

The boys play at John Jay on Thursday (6:30 p.m.) and host South Kent on Saturday (also 6:30 p.m.).

The girls play at the Bethel Jamboree on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

The Ridgfield field hockey squad will participate in Brookfield's annual "Play Day" on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.

Ridgefield's girls volley team does not have a scrimmage until next Wednesday at Weston.

The Soccer Club of Ridgefield will stage its 28th annual Warm-Up Tournament on Saturday and Sunday (the rain date in Sept. 5).

The tournament is open to boys and girls travel teams from the U-9 through U-14 age divisions. All teams will play four games, two on each day.
