The Ridgefield boys soccer team was scheduled to open the season on Wednesday against Staples, but that game has been postponed until Sept. 28. The Tigers now will host Greenwich in their opener on Friday at 6 p.m.
Here are the dates for the openers for Ridgefield's other teams (the girls soccer opener also was postponed due to limited practice days in the wake of Hurricane Irene):

Girls soccer: Saturday -- vs. Stamford, 12 a.m.
Field hockey: Saturday -- at Norwalk, 11 a.m. (Ridgefield will host a scrimmage against the Ethel Walker School on Wednesday at 6 p.m.)

Girls volleyball: will start on time with the opening match at Bassick on Wednesday (4 p.m.).

The Soccer Club of Ridgefield has announced that its 28th annual Warm-Up Tournament is now scheduled for Oct. 8-9, which is Columbus Day Weekend.
The tournament was supposed to take place this past weekend, but was postponed in the wake of the damage caused by Hurricane Irene. The registration deadline now is Sept. 17.
The tournament is open to boys and girls teams, U-9 thru U-14. Trophies will be awarded to the U-11 thru U14 division winners. All U-9 and U-10 players will receive participation awards. Applications are accepted from classic travel and qualifying premier team.
Each team will play four games, two on each day. Games will consist of two 25-minute halves with a five-minute halftime. The entry fee is $450 per team.
