How good is the Ridgefield football team?

The Tigers should begin to found out on Saturday when they visit Stamford in a pivotal early-season clash of 1-1 teams.

Ridgefield sputtered in a season-opening 16-3 loss at Greenwich with five turnovers, although the Tigers did keep Greenwich's offense out of the end zone, giving up special teams and defensive touchdowns.

Ridgefield rebounded last week with a 41-0 win over Fairfield Ludlowe, but it came against a week Falcons' team which failed to cross midfield the entire game.

Ridgefield should get a better idea of where it stands against the Black Knights, who are looking to rebound from a 25-12 loss to Norwalk.

Junior quarterback Connor Rowe has passed for 439 yards and five touchdowns for the Tigers, although he also has thrown four interceptions. Jack Heller (9-138, 2TDs).Matthew Flanagan (6-119) and Sam Gravitte (6-3, 2TDs) have been Rowe's top targets for Rowe so far.

The 35th annual Ridgefield Half Marathon is set for Sunday, starting at 8:30 p.m. at the old high school.

More than 600 runners are expected to compete in the 13.1-mile event. Runners can register online at active.com or on the morning of the race from 7 to 8:15 at the Yanity Gym.
