Ridgefield Girls Soccer Stuns FCIAC Champion Greenwich
Tigers advance to Class LL quarterfinals with 2-0 win over the Cardinals

After barely qualifying for the Class LL state tournament, the Ridgfield girls soccer team pulled off its second straight upset on Saturday.
Ellie Gravitte scored twice as the 25th-seeded Tigers stunned reigning FCIAC champion Greenwich 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
After a scoreless first half, Gravitte tallied off a free kick in the 63rd minute to give Ridgefield the lead. She then sealed the win with a goal in the final minute as Ridgefield (7-6-5) avenged a 2-1 loss to Greenwich on Columbus Day.

Greenwich (14-3-4), the No. 9 seed, was eliminated in the second round of the state tournament for the second straight year.
Ridgefield, which defeated No. 8 West Haven 3-1 in the first round on Thursday, will visit top seed Glastonbury in the round of eight on Tuesday.

The Tomahawks, who had a bye in the first round, advanced with a 2-1 win over No. 16 seed Darien on Saturday.
