This one will go down as one of the biggest upsets in the FCIAC in recent years as surging Fairfield Ludlowe shocked 47-45 in overtime on the road Monday night.

The winning streak has allowed Ludlowe to move within one win of clinching a state tournament berth and stay in contention for an FCIAC playoff spot.
Justin Berardino added 11 points and Connor Peterson chippd in with nine for the Falcons, who also have beaten Fairfield Warde and Danbury during the streak -- and both of those games were on the road as well.

The Falcons overcame a 31-point effort by Ridgefield's Kurt Steidl, who hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
However, no other player had more than six points for the Tigers, who dropped to 14-3 and 12-3.
Ridgefield jumped out to a 20-11 lead after the first quarter, but Ludlowe pulled within 26-23 at the intermission. Ludlowe then closed within 33-32 after three quarters and the contest was tied at 41-41 at the end of regulation.

Andrea Ferrero scored 16 points and Gemma Howard added 13 Monday as the Ridgefield girls basketball team kept its state tournament hopes alive with a 63-50 victory at Fairfield.
The Tigers improved to 7-12 and need to beat Staples on Wednesday in their regular-season finale to clinch a spot in the Class LL tournament.
Ridgefield opened an 11-1 lead midway through the first quarter and led 17-5 after the opening period.
The Tigers converted 19 of its 28 free throws while Ludlowe was just 5-of-13 from the line, including 33-of-11 in the first half.
After Ridgefield opened a 24-11 lead on Howard's follow midway through the first half, the Falcons went to a man-to-man and for while it appeared they might get back into the game.
The Falcons held Ridgefield scoreless for nearly four minutes and pulled within 24-16 on Curran's 3-pointer with 1:15 left in the half.
But a layup by Emily Favorite (11 points) off a turnover with eight seconds left staked Ridgefield to a 26-16 halftime lead and Ludlowe got no closer than nine in the second half.
The Falcons shot just 6-of-26 (23 perfect) in the first half and 19-of-68 (28 percent) overall.
Ridgefield extended its advantage to 41-28 after three quarters, then broke it open in the fourth, leading by as many as 20 points. Ludlowe made it a bid more respectable by ending the contest with a 13-6 spurt after the Tigers had built a 57-37 cushion.

There was no change in this week's New Haven Register boys basketball top 10 media state poll.
St. Joseph (16-0) held on to the top spot, collecting 16 of the 18 first-place votes, with No. 2 Hillhouse (18-0) garnering the other two first-place ballots.
Northwest Catholic (16-1) is third, followed by New London (17-2) and Kolbe Cathedral (17-0) to complete the top five.
Career (16-1) is sixth, followed by Hartford Public (17-0), Windsor (16-1), Crosby (16-2) and Enfield (17-0).
Ridgefield (14-2) is 11th while fellow FCIAC members Westhill (11-5), Trinity Catholic (12-5) and Bassick (13-4) are also receiving votes.
