The boys basketball team looks to move one step closer to clinching a return trip to the FCIAC playoffs when they Tigers host Fairfield Warde on Friday (7 p.m.) in the second of three straight home games.

Ridgefield (13-2, 11-2), which is trying to nail down the No. 2 seed, is coming off Tuesday's 66-41 victory over McMahon. Jack Heller and Kurt Steidl each scored 18 points for the Tigers with Heller recording a career high.

However, Ridgefield will be facing an improved Warde team as the Mustangs followed up their 59-54 upset of Trinity  Catholic with an impressive 71-60 victory over Bridgeport Central on Tuesday.

The Mustangs (9-6, 7-6) have won four in a row and are in a four-way tie for eighth in the FCIAC standings with Danbury, Stamford and Staples.

Meanwhile, the Ridgefield girls basketball team visits Fairfield Warde on Friday looking to keep its flickering state tournament hopes alive.  

Ater falling at Trumbull 53-43 on Tuesday, the Tigers (6-11, 6-9) need to win two of their final three games to get in.

However, they will be facing one of the league's hottest teams as Warde (11-6, 9-6) has won seven of its last eight  games and is looking to return to the FCIAC playoffs after a two-year absence. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Ridgefield wraps up the regular season next with games against Fairfield Ludlowe and Staples.
