Kurt Steidl added 14 for Ridgefield, which improved to 14-2 overall and 12-2 in the FCIAC as the Tigers look to nail down the No. 2 seed for the league playoffs.

A dominant second half by Gemma Howard was not enough for the Ridgefield girls basketball team to defeat one of the hottest clubs in the FCIAC as the Tigers suffered a 56-50 loss at Fairfield Warde on Friday.
Howard scored 16 of her 19 points in the second half, including Ridgefield's first eight in the third quarter. That helped the Tigers tied the game at 32-32 after trailing by as many as nine in the first half.
However, Warde responded with a 9-0 run and held off another late challenge after the Tigers had pulled within 49-48 in the final two minutes.
The Loss dropped Ridgefield to 6-12 overall and 6-10 in the FCIAC and put them in a position where they have to win their final two games to qualify for the state tournament.
The Tigers play at Fairfield Ludlowe on Monday (7 p.m.), then host Staples on Wednesday.
