Ridgefield Water Treatment Project Targets PFAS, With Completion Expected In Spring 2027
Aquarion plans two filters at its Norrans Ridge Drive facility and expects little to no traffic impact during construction.
A project to remove PFAS from well water in Ridgefield is scheduled for completion in spring 2027, according to Aquarion Water Authority. Construction at the seasonal wellfield treatment facility, 9 Norrans Ridge Drive, was scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 19.
The work includes installing two filter vessels containing granulated activated carbon to remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances before water enters the distribution system. Aquarion describes the project as intended to ensure compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s drinking water regulation for six PFAS, announced Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Working hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Portland-based Snyder Construction serving as general contractor. Aquarion expects little to no traffic impact and says access to the local walking trail will remain open throughout construction.
