Selectmen, Commissioners to Discuss Investigation into Ridgefield Fire Chief Kevin Tappe: Report

Tappe has been on administrative leave since Dec. 22.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Boards of Selectmen and Fire Commissioners are scheduled to meet Wednesday to discuss possible "disciplinary action" involving Ridgefield Fire Chief Kevin Tappe.

Tappe has been on administrative leave since Dec. 22, and The News Times reports that an investigation into a possible "policy violation" by the chief has been completed.

The nature of the possible policy violation has not been disclosed, but the agendas of the fire commissioners and selectmen meetings indicate that some type of move could be planned.

"Human Resources Discussion on Disciplinary Action with Possible Executive Session," states the commissioners agenda, while the selectmen's meeting states, "Possible executive session for personnel matter."

Tappe has been Ridgefield's fire chief since June of 2014, having served as assistant chief for the seven years prior.

The Ridgefield Board of Fire Commissioners is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, while the Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in Town Hall.
