"I'm leaving WPRI at the end of September," Pitts posted. "As for what's next, I'm not giving up on the TV news biz— I'II be moving one state over to work as a reporter for NBC Connecticut. I'm thrilled to become a part of the NBCUniversal family."
Pitts said the decision was "excruciatingly difficult" to make, but ultimately what was best for her and her future.

Before joining WPRI in September 2021, Pitts was a multimedia journalist for over three years with ABC affiliate WLNE, also in Rhode Island, her home state. She was a 2017 graduate of Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, according to her LinkedIn profile.
"There's nothing like reporting in your home market," Pitts posted. "I was lucky enough to do it at two TV stations here."
She promised she would "always be a Rhody girl through and through."
Pitts will fill a void created last month at NBC Connecticut when reporter Michael Fuller left for an as-yet undisclosed new gig.
