Swastikas Return to Ridgefield Park

Police are requesting that anyone with any information contact them immediately.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Swastikas, emblems used by Germany's Third Reich which have come to be regarded as anti-semitic symbols, have once again turned up in Ridgefield.

Three swastikas were found carved into a wooden picnic table at Ballard Green and reported to police on June 27, The Ridgefield Press has reported.

Swastika graffiti has been a recurring problem in town, dating back at least until 2014, when Ridgefield High School Principal Stacey Gross wrote an impassioned letter to parents upon the discovery of two swastikas painted on school grounds.

Ridgefield High and Ballard have not been the only targets for the vandals. In January, following the discovery of five swastikas drawn outside the Masonic Lodge and Aldrich Museum, the Anti-Defamation League offered a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Police are requesting that anyone with any information about who is distributing the swastikas contact them immediately. Anonymous tips may be left at 203-431-2345.
