Teen Accused Of Abandoning Car Stolen From Ridgefield Arrested: Naugatuck Police
A police K9 was able to track down a teen accused of abandoning a damaged car stolen from Ridgefield in Naugatuck, according to police.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — A teen accused of abandoning a damaged car reported stolen from Ridgefield in Naugatuck was arrested Sunday night, according to police.
In a news release, Naugatuck police said they receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle with damage in the area of Culver Street and Homestead Avenue around 8 p.m.
According to police, the caller reported a juvenile male with puffy hair had abandoned a Honda Civic in the area.
Officers determined the car was stolen out of Ridgefield and knew of a sixteen-year-old who lived in the area and was recently charged with stealing another car, police said.
A police K9 tracked down the teen who had been driving the car at a home in town, and a witness confirmed they had seen the teen leaving the vehicle earlier, according to police.
The teen was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. The teen was released to a parent and was scheduled to appear in juvenile court Monday morning, according to police.
