Three Locals Chosen for Super Juniors Lax Game
Andrew Buckanavage, Griffin McCarty and Travis Tiger will represent Ridgefield in Saturday's game at Yale.
Three Ridgefield High School players have been selected to participate in the Super Juniors Blue/White lacrosse game.
Representing Ridgefield will be midfielder Andrew Buckanavage, long stick midfielder Griffin McCarty and defenseman Travis Tiger.
Game play is today at noon at Yale University's Reese Stadium.
The Super Juniors is an invitation-only event comprised of the top high school junior lacrosse players throughout the state. First-round tryouts were last Sunday at New Canaan High School, followed by the second round on Wednesday night at Wesleyan University.
Fifty players were selected from the initial group of 354 to play in the game.
The contest is run by the Connecticut Lacrosse Foundation, which promotes the sport in the state. Each participating player will receive a pair of game shorts, a commemorative T-shirt and a copy of the game on DVD for recruiting purposes.
Ridgefield completed a 12-6 season, losing to Greenwich, 11-6, in the first round of the CIAC Class L state tournament.
