The Ridgefield boys volleyball team defeated Bridgeport Central, 25-14, 25-11, 25-22, Tuesday in the first round of the CIAC Class L state tournament.
The Tigers improved to 14-5 and will play at No. 3 Xavier in the quarterfinals on Friday. Xavier had a bye in the first round.

Jeff Amorello had five service points and 16 kills for Ridgefield against Central, while Doug DelBene added four aces, seven service points and eight kills.
