"I am very proud that NCPG has recognized our staff’s collective efforts to promote responsible gambling through our corporate responsibility newsletter and our most recent public awareness campaign. The awards exemplify our commitment to meeting the highest standards in our industry for corporate social responsibility,” said Chelsea Turner, the interim CT Lottery President and CEO.

The CT Lottery submitted Chatter That Matter, its quarterly newsletter, to NCPG for award consideration.

The Newsletter is distributed to all CT Lottery employees, CT Lottery board members, leaders in the responsible gaming community, as well as policy makers, and is posted on CTLOTTERY.ORG.

Articles are written by employees from all departments and at every level of the organization. CTM always features various responsible gambling initiatives. In the award winning issue of CTM, the president’s message highlighted all of the CT Lottery’s Problem Gambling Awareness Month efforts.

It included, but was not limited to: implementation of a “Responsible Gambling” button on all CT Lottery retailers’ terminals; a proclamation issued by Governor Malloy; a resolution made by the CT Lottery Board of Directors; and RG training for retailers and employees. In consideration for the NCPG Public Awareness Award, the CT Lottery submitted a 15 and 30 second version television ad titled, “Gamble Responsibly.”

The ad was developed in conjunction with the roll out of the lottery's "new responsible gambling initiative," officials said.

Each of these concepts conveyed the importance of gambling responsibly along with specific information for the player that, should gambling become a problem, help is available and where to seek it, officials said.

The ads were made in Connecticut, "further reinforcing that problem gambling is an issue that affects our own communities," lottery officials said.
