Woman Fatally Stabbed, Suspect Detained: Rocky Hill Police

ROCKY HILL, CT — The Rocky Hill Police Department is actively investigating a serious assault that occurred within a condominium complex on Concord Drive in Rocky Hill.

Rocky Hill Police Dispatch received a report of a female victim who had been assaulted within the condominium complex. The complainant reported that the victim appeared to have sustained stab wounds, police said.

Rocky Hill Police officers responded and, upon locating the victim, began providing lifesaving measures, police said. Emergency medical personnel subsequently transported the victim to Hartford Hospital, where she later died, police said.

The suspect, Michael Ranger, 55, was located and is currently being detained in upstate New York, police said.

The Rocky Hill Police Department has secured an arrest warrant for the following charges: murder and violation of a standing criminal protective order.

The Rocky Hill Police Department will be coordinating with the municipality in New York to transfer custody of Ranger and bring him back to Connecticut, police said.
