Police Release Names of Victims in Rocky Hill Fatal Fire: Update
The fire broke out in a residential home over the weekend.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Local and state fire and police officials are investigating the cause of a fatal blaze on Rocky Hill's Walnut Road on Saturday. Police on Monday released the names of the victims.
On Sunday, The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death for both people was smoke inhalation and ruled the incident as accidental, police said.

- Thomas Munger, 58, of 65 Walnut Road Rocky Hill.
- Veronica Cossio-Munger, 49, of 65 Walnut Road Rocky Hill.
The Building Inspector for Rocky Hill has condemned the building due to severe structural damage, police said.
At about 3:15 a.m. Saturday, the Rocky Hill Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire on Walnut Road, fire officials said. When firefighters arrived, the rear of the house was engulfed in flames, fire officials said.

The Firefighters entered the house to conduct a search-and-rescue effort and found two deceased victims inside the residence, fire officials said.
It took the Firefighters about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control, officials said.
An ongoing, joint investigation is being conducted by Rocky Hill police detectives, the Rocky Hill Fire Marshal, and the CT State Police Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause and origin of the flames, fire and police officials said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also be assisting in the investigation, police and fire officials said.
Two Firefighters sustained minor injuries, fire and police officials said.
