Two Suspects In Norwich Burglary Identified After Rocky Hill Capture

Rocky Hill, Wethersfield and state police units all participated in a several-hours long search for the accused bank burglars.

ROCKY HILL/WETHERSFIELD/NORWICH, CT — An incident that started with a bank burglary in Norwich, continued with a wrong-way driving incident on Intersate 91 and ended in Rocky Hill resulted in two suspects facing multiple charges.

According to Connecticut State Police Monday afternoon, two suspects are now in custody in connection with the multi-town incident.

In custody are Hartford resident Mark Francis Chee-You, 24, and Rocky Hill resident Euris Tejada, 30, who are facing yet-to-be released charges in connection with the incident.

Connecticut State Police said it all began at about 3:27 a.m. in Norwich, when Norwich police received an ATM alarm from a local bank there.

That's when "a suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area," entering on Interstate 395 south, police said.

This resulted in state police troopers from Troop E in Montville and Troop K in Colchester following the suspects' vehicle, when then traveled along Route 2, eventually traveling to Interstate 91.

Police said the suspects ended up going the wrong way on the northbound I-91 Exit 26 off-ramp near the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill border and the vehicle "eventually stopped," with both occupants fleeing on foot.

According to state police, members of Rocky Hill Police Department, Wethersfield Police Department, State police at Troop H in Hartford and Troop K established a perimeter.

Police utilized other resources during a "multi-hour" search for the suspects, including K-9 police dog teams and the state police's aviation unit, which employs airplanes and drones, according to police.

K-9 units were able to track the suspects for about 10 miles during the search, police said.

The situation ended Monday morning when an off-duty Rocky Hill police sergeant saw the suspects walking near Old Main Street in Rocky Hill, according to authorities.

"The two suspects were taken into custody without incident or injuries to either the suspects or police personnel on scene," state police wrote.

Police said both men have extensive criminal histories and they were transported to Troop H in Hartford for arrest processing.

Those charges have, yet, to be identified and more charges are expected from the Norwich Police Department.

"There is no threat to the public," state police said. "This incident is an example of a complex, multi-jurisdictional investigation in which agencies collaborated to find and arrest suspects."
