Driver Pulled From Sinking Vehicle After It Goes Into Connecticut River In Rocky Hill
A car went into the water at the historic Connecticut River ferry landing Monday morning in Rocky Hill, authorities said.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Rescue crews descended on the historic Rocky Hill ferry landing Monday morning after a car went into the Connecticut River.
The ferry landing and Ferry Park are located at at 315 Meadow Road.
The incident took place at 11:o5 a.m. and, upon arrival, responders encountered a car that was floating in the public boat launch area, about 40 feet from the riverbank, according to an incident report.

An RHPD sergeant and an RHFD officer attempted an initial rescue but were unable to access the vehicle, but additional RHFD units arrived within minutes, and a Zodiac rescue boat was launched, according to an incident report.
The water rescue crew was able to reach the rapidly sinking vehicle, break out a rear window, and pull the sole occupant to safety, according to an incident report.

The woman was brought to shore and transferred to an EMS unit where she was treated. She was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an incident report.
Divers searched the submerged vehicle and determined there were no additional occupants in the vehicle.
During the rescue attempt a police officer sustained minor injuries. The officer was transported to an area hospital for further medical evaluation and was released, according to an incident report.
The name of the driver was not being released Monday evening.
