Alleged Rocky Hill Bank Robber Who Was Chased by State Senator Still in Custody

Rocky Hill, CT — The Massachusetts alleged bank robber who was chased by a state senator at a local Webster Bank Branch remained in custody this week while awaiting his second court appearance.

News of State Sen. Paul Doyle's exploits surfaced this week as the state lawmaker happened to be inside the bank at the time it was being robbed in November.

Christopher Lunn, 32, has two sets of second-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny on his legal plate and is, according to state judicial system records, scheduled to appear in court again on July 10, eight months to the day Doyle, who was a customer inside the bank at the time, chased him outside the bank.

Doyle, an avid runner, said instinct, and his athletic ability took over.

He said he chased Lunn for a bit, but then stopped to pick up flying money.

Lunn was able to get away locally, but he was eventually arrested in Massachusetts on drug charges, Rocky Hill Police said.

Doyle said in the Courant interview he would chase the guy again.

Lunn is being held on collective bonds totaling $50,000, according to court records.

He had been serving time in Massachusetts on narcotics charges, Rocky Hill police said, and was brought to Connecticut on an extraditable warrant after his sentence was up in the commonwealth.

Rocky Hill police said, though they commend Doyle for "defending his community," residents should use caution and "know who they are chasing" when confronting criminals who might be armed.
