Plants and gardens are healthier and more bountiful when rooted in fertile soil that provides an abundance of nutrients. Composting is a simple way we can recycle our organic waste into nutrient-rich soil for growing food. Celebrate Earth Day in Rocky Hill by learning the basics of composting and vermicomposting (composting with worms) in this special program:
At 6 pm: Join Mayor Lisa Marotta and others to explore ways to compost and hear about some exciting new community initiatives.

At 6:30 pm: Listen to Peter and Tricia Halvordson, Connecticut Master Composters as they discuss using worm castings to add nutrients to the soil in the process called vermicomposting. This is accomplished by maintaining a community of worms and harvesting their castings for use as compost for plants.
