
Yvon A. Dionne, 94, of Meriden, formerly of Rocky Hill and Voluntown, passed away on October 18th at Masonicare Hospice.
Yvon was the loving and devoted husband of the late Louise (Doiron) Dionne. They had a wonderful life together and loved their families and many great friends. They traveled often and enjoyed building their home in Voluntown in the 1970s. Yvon and Louise loved making beautiful wood crafts and went to many craft shows to display their wares.
He was born on the family farm in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada on November 16, 1922, the son of the late Alfred and Amanda Dionne. As a young man Yvon was employed by the “Evangeline”, a French-speaking newspaper in Moncton, New Brunswick as a pressman.

He came to the Unites States in 1957 and started working in Meriden at the “Record-Journal” in the StereoType Department. After the Record -Journal converted to computer printing Yvon started a new career as a finish carpenter with West Hartford Stairs & Cabinets.
Yvon’s family was very precious to him. He was the father of Gloria (Dionne) Clancy and the late Diana (Dionne) Girouard. He adored his grandchildren, Brian Clancy,(Diana) Tom Clancy, (Tammy), Denise Crossin,(Frank) Dennis Burton,(Jodie), Rhonda Girouard and Ron Girouard, (Alli).

Yvon was the loving great-grandfather of Aidan Clancy, Madison Clancy, Emily Clancy, Owen Clancy, Evan Clancy, Brittany (Logan) Schellhard, Maranda Crossin, Raquel Crossin, Andrew Burton, and Alivia Burton. Yvon is fondly remembered by his sisters Jeannette Leger,(Ray) Viola Cormier, Alfreda Despres (Bertin) and brothers, Alyre Dionne, Norman Dionne, Bernie Dionne, and Leonard Bastarache (Linda). He was predeceased by his baby sister Anita and his younger brother Gerard Dionne. He was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Yvon will be remembered as a handsome, strong, loving man with huge “farm boy” hands and a quick wit and keen sense of humor. Everyone that met Yvon was drawn to his deep blue eyes, ready smile, and kind nature. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. A life well lived.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 11 AM at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
