Rocky Hill Wins Central CT Babe Ruth Championship

The Rocky Hill Babe Ruth baseball team beat Newington 13-0 to win the 2015 Central CT Babe Ruth Championship. Matt Erdman pitched a 3 hitter with 14 strikeouts on the way to the complete game shutout. Mike Malley had 4 hits including a home run and James Morello & Jacob Pelligrinelli collected 3 hits apiece.

In the quarterfinal 6-0 victory over Wethersfield (Nationwide), Erdman, Jack Risley (2 hits), Jordan Greco (2 RBI), Colin Pavel (2 RBI), Anthony Sapia-Banas (2 runs), & Peter Vanturas (2 runs) led the way for Rocky Hill.

In the tough semifinal 7-6 victory over Wethersfield (LaCava), Risley hit a bottom of the 7th walk off sacrifice fly to score Kyle Tuozzo for the emotional come from behind win. Tuozzo came in relief to hold Wethersfield at bay to get the win for Rocky Hill. Joe Doyle, Lou DiRenzo, and Tommy Slavin played a major role with their bats during the comeback.

Rocky Hill finished the season with a 16-4 record. It was their first Babe Ruth Championship.
