2 Injured, 1 Fatally, In Separate Motorcycle Crashes: Shelton PD

The two crashes occurred just over an hour apart on Friday.

SHELTON, CT — One motorcyclist was killed, and another seriously injured, in separate crashes in Shelton Friday that occurred just over an hour apart, according to police.

Both crashes involved the motorcycles colliding with vehicles, and besides the two motorcyclists, no other injuries were reported.

The fatal first crash occurred at about 11:20 a.m. on Old Stratford Road, according to Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

"The preliminary investigation by police revealed that the driver of the vehicle was exiting the Wheels Gas Station and struck a motorcycle that was traveling on Old Stratford Rd headed towards Bridgeport Avenue," Kozlowsky said in a statement.

The operator of the motorcycle, whose name has not yet been released by police, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Kozlowsky, the second crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on Bridgeport Avenue and Cots Street. The operator of the motorcycle in this crash was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Both crashes are under investigation by the Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team, with assistance from the detective division and patrol division.

No enforcement action has been taken at this time, but anyone with any additional information about either crash is urged to contact the Shelton Police Traffic Division at 203-924-1544.
