Ansonia Board of Ed, City Officials At Odds Over 'Donation' Letter

Residents received a letter seeking funds in their recent tax bills.

Ansonia, CT - Just how hard up for cash is the Ansonia School System?

Mixed in residents' recent tax bills was a letter seeking donations for the school district, which apparently was sent by city officials and not the Board of Education, reports the New Haven Register.

Appreciative of the intent, but a bit peeved over the letter, which carried the headline "Go the Extra Mile for Ansonia Schools," the Board of Education is sending out a rebuttal letter to make clear that it had nothing to do with the request.

Additionally, the board says it can only accept funds from the city, not from individuals wishing to make donations.
