Fire Reported At Starbucks In Shelton: Fire Officials

Fire officials said smoke was visible from the front door when crews arrived.

SHELTON, CT — An appliance fire broke out Sunday morning at a Starbucks in Shelton, according to fire officials

In a news release posted to Facebook, fire officials said crews were called to 106 Commerce Drive around 9 a.m. after receiving a report of sparks coming from an appliance there.

According to the company's website, 106 Commerce Drive is the address of a Starbucks coffee shop. Attempts to reach the store by phone Monday morning were unsuccessful.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was visible from the front door. After entering the building, crews found a small fire in the area of a refrigerator with minor extension to a nearby counter top, according to fire officials.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire within five minutes and conducted overhaul for a short time to ensure no hidden flames were present, fire officials said. No injuries were reported.

The New Haven Register reports Rob Scinto, the building's owner, said he expects the Starbucks to reopen sometime this week.
