Arsonist Shelton Firefighter Had Child Porn: PD

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton volunteer firefighter already charged with arson is now facing child porn charges after police seized his phone in connection with their previous investigation.

William Tortora, 57, of Shelton was charged May 16 with promoting a minor in an obscene performance and third-degree possession of child pornography, said Detective Richard Bango, police spokesman.

Tortora is still incarcerated on the arson charges. Bond was set at $75,000 for the new charges.

Child porn photos and video were discovered on Tortora's phone, Bango said.

Tortora was arrested March 1 in connection with a fire at a Shelton firehouse. He allegedly lit a pickup truck bed on fire, according to police. A former fire captain was also charged with arson.
