City Has Eight Options for Canal Street Project
The City of Shelton Purchasing Department opened the bids on Tuesday.

Eight companies are vying for the job to reconstruct Canal Street in Shelton.
The city opened those sealed bids — for project #33-32 — on Tuesday afternoon during a meeting held in City Hall by the Purchasing Department. The bids are for phase 1 of the multi-phase project.
According to Gene Sullivan, a purchasing agent in the city's department, it is expected that bids will come in anywhere between $500,000 and $1 million.

The bids will be forwarded to the engineering firm that has drawn up the reconstruction plans, Meriden-based DeCarlo and Doll, Inc. The firm will then make a recommendation to the town for the lowest and most responsible bid, Sullivan said.
Peter Burns, the lead project enginner with DeCarlo and Doll, was not immediately available for comment Tuesday afternoon.
