Dad Wanted Daughter's Boyfriend Falsely Jailed: Shelton PD

The father paid a man to make a fake robbery complaint, police said.

SHELTON, CT — A Seymour father was arrested after he allegedly paid someone to file a criminal complaint against his daughter's Shelton boyfriend, according to police. The man hoped the boyfriend would land in jail after being accused of a robbery.

Thomas Owen, 20, went to police July 13 and said the boyfriend robbed him at knife point, said Detective Richard Bango, police spokesman. He picked the boyfriend out of a police lineup.

Police investigated the claim and learned that Philip Prokop, 47, and his mother paid Owen to make the complaint, Bango said.
