DERBY, CT — The Derby fire chief was placed on administrative leave for a "personnel matter," according to town officials.

Chief Robert Laskowski posted about protests in New York City and said that “they need a few Blackhawks with snipers to solve the problem!” according to the Connecticut Post. The post has since been deleted.

Mayor Richard Dziekan didn't say if the post was the cause of Laskowski being placed on leave.

Laskowski spoke with the Valley Independent Sentinel and said that being put on lead had to do with a Facebook post. He said the comment was made off the cuff when it sounded like police were losing control, and he wasn't advocating that police shoot people.
