DERBY, CT — Derby resident Ronald Culmo, 69, the former secretary treasurer of the Adriatic Marchegain Club, was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree larceny after police said he embezzled nearly $100,000 from the social club, wrote WFSB-TV and other media outlets.

According to authorities, Culmo is accused of stealing the money over a five-year period from 2015 to 2020 to cover gambling debts.

Derby police reportedly began investigating Culmo in July 2020, after club members had learned that only about $4,000 was in the club's bank account when they had expected there to be more than $100,000.
