In Derby Schools, a Move to End Eating Lunch Alone
On Fridays, students and staff make sure to eat together, among other activities.

DERBY, CT — In an effort to end social isolation throughout the school district, Derby school students are participating in team building activities and a "No One Eats Alone" effort, reports Fox61 News.
On Fridays, students and staff make sure to eat together, and during the week some students eat lunch with elderly residents and also make signs that say "hello" in different languages.
The initiatives are suggestions from the Sandy Hook Promise, "a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012."
