Derby's Animal Control Program to Move to Shelton

Derby, CT - Woodbridge will relinquish its responsibility over the Derby animal control duties this summer once Woodbridge takes over Seymour's unit.

Seymour is closing down its Animal Control unit to save money and will pay Woodbridge $70,000 on a one-year contract to handle it. 

With Derby being closer to Shelton than Woodbridge, it made logistical sense for Shelton to take over Derby's operation, Shelton Animal Control Director Leon Sylvester told the Shelton Herald.

Woodbridge has handled Derby's animal control work since 2012, and the contract between the two expires this summer.

The exact date of the transition to Shelton has not yet been disclosed.
