DOT Announces Route 8 Paving Detours in Shelton

There will be overnight paving on parts of Route 8 that will necessitate ramp closures.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced overnight ramp closures on Route 8 in Trumbull, Stratford and Shelton.

DOT estimates that the project will last from now until Sept. 25.

The project begins just before exit 8 on the northbound side and ends on the on ramp for Interchange 13 northbound.

Detours are required at northbound lanes.

The regular work schedule for this project is from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday thru Friday).

The following ramp closures have been scheduled:

    • Week of September 14th through 18th: Exit 12 interchange (on and off ramps)
    • Week of September 14th through 18th: Exits 8 and 9 interchange (on and off ramps)
    • Week of September 21th through 25th: Exit 13 interchange (on and off ramps)

Only one on or off ramp will be closed at a given time. Detour signs will guide motorists through.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
