Duo Arrested for Allegedly Burglarizing Shelton Home

Police located the two men who were seen acting suspiciously in a neighborhood.

Police arrested two men on Tuesday accused of burglarizing a Shelton home.

After receiving several reports of the duo who were seen in the neighborhood around Waverly Road and Sorghum Road knocking on doors, police located and arrested the pair.

According to police, callers said that two men would park their vehicle and knock on doors trying to determine if anyone was home. After several failed attempts to stop the two men, police located their vehicle behind a home on September Lane and were told by a witness that the pair had fled on foot.

The two suspects, Emanuel Ranger, 23 and Allen Young, 20 were located in the rear yard of a Nichols Avenue home and taken into custody. An investigation revealed that Ranger was the owner of the suspicious vehicle and had been operating it with no registration, no insurance and with a suspended license, police said.

He was charged with engaging police in pursuit and interfering with an officer. Police detained Young while the investigation surrounding the suspicious activity continued.

Trumbull Police performed a canine track beginning from where the suspects were seen parking their vehicle that led to a home on Waverly Terrace that had been burglarized, police said. A watch, jewelry and a black mask were located on Young. The jewelry and watch were determined to be property from the burglarized home.

Ranger and Young were both charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, fourth-degree larceny, fourth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.

Young was held on a $100,000 bond while Ranger was held on a $75,000 bond.

The pair are scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on April 22.
