Find Out If Connecticut Treasury Has Money Owed To You

The state treasury is waiting for more than 1.4 million people to claim more than $775 million in 2017.

HARTFORD, CT — More than 1.4 million people could be sitting on some extra holiday cash that is being held by the Connecticut Treasury. The state treasury holds onto unclaimed money from forgotten savings accounts, utility deposits, inheritances and other sources.

The state is holding onto more than $775 million as of October 2017. Residents can check names on the treasury website to get started in claiming what is rightfully theirs. Those who come up in the database can file and mail in a claim.

State law requires holders of unclaimed property to remit it to the state annually, which safeguards it until the rightful owner steps forward. The state doesn't charge people to claim their property. There is no time limit for making a claim.
