SHELTON, CT — A large fire destroyed a building at Highland Golf Club in Shelton on Friday night, according to multiple reports citing officials.
Fire crews responded to the golf course located at 261 Wooster St. around 11:30 p.m. to find the clubhouse completely engulfed in flames, NBC Connecticut reported. While on their way to the scene, firefighters said a “large orange glow” was visible, reports said.

Sparks from the blaze also ignited several small brush fires due to dry and windy conditions, according to WFSB.
"A few little embers are all it took to start probably a half-acre fire just down the street from here," Shelton Assistant Fire Chief Bob Finta told WFSB. "That’s why we’re keeping water flowing on the building right now. Try to keep any embers or sparks from flying off as we get near daybreak."
