Food Trucks in the Valley Presents a 'Food-a-Palooza' for Charity Sept. 18

The first ever large-scale food truck event in the Valley will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to PCRC.

Food Trucks in the Valley is hosting a food lovers dream event on Sept. 18, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Shelton River Walk, 80 Canal Street E., Shelton, Conn. Organizers expect more than 2,000 people to attend.

The event will include live music, Connecticut sports mascots, and a classic car show.

  • 4 - 5 p.m. “B.B.” of the Bridgeport Bluefish
  • 5 - 6 p.m. “Rocky” of the New Britain Rock Cats & “Storm” of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers

Childrens’ activities include face painting from Crazy Fun Face Painting and Body Art, hula hooping by Bring the Hoopla and candy art from Nikki’s Candy Boutique. WPLR will attend from 5 - 7 p.m. with music and giveaways.

This food truck fundraiser is being hosted by the Lower Naugatuck Valley Parent Child Resource Center (PCRC) which provides services and programs to children with severe emotional and behavioral issues. Their programs include the Child Guidance Clinic, Valley Kids Belong programs, FAST Triple P Positive Parenting Program, Therapeutic Mentoring Program, Intensive Outpatient Program and the Prevention through Early Intervention program.

Some of the food trucks selling their mouthwatering menu items include:

  • House of Bones BBQ: Ribs, pulled chicken and other BBQ
  • Szabo’s Seafood: Hot Lobster Rolls, New England Clam Chowder, Fish and Chips, Shrimp and Chips, Scallop Rolls
  • Firedog: Hot dogs, pulled pork
  • Pierogies on Wheels: Pierogies with pork, sauerkraut, mushrooms
  • 3 Chicks Grille: Steak and cheese bombs, fried Oreos
  • Wrap That Food: Wraps and salads
  • Caseus Grilled Cheese: Cheese and bread varieties
  • Fryborg: Fries with unique dipping sauces
  • Spuds Your Way: Baked potatoes with choice toppings
  • Grab Your Meatballs: Meatball varieties (including veggie)
  • Mobile Munchies: Beef Sundae with slow roasted beef topped with garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, and cheese
  • Dad’s Food Truck: Pasta and cannoli varieties
  • DiSorbo’s Fried Dough Bakery Truck: Fried dough, cannolis, italian ice
  • New Haven Pizza Truck: Pizza with choice toppings
  • Snappy Dawgs: Beef Empanadas, Chicken Kabobs (Spanish Pinchos), Spanish Egg Roll, Chicken & Steak Tacos, Garlic Fries and Homemade Sauces (Grandpa’s, Criminal & Angry)
  • Firehouse Grill: Appetizers: Chili/cheese fries, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, chili
  • Heros & Sandwiches: Chicago hot dog, Sabrett red hot, homemade meatballs, sausage & pepper grinder, Philly cheese steak, Chicago fire sub, eggplant parm grinder, chicken parm, cheeseburger wedge Sides: Hand cut fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes Cupcake varieties alcoholic/nonalcoholic (have take home containers as an option)
  • Super Softy/Magic Cone: Soft serve, hard novelties, candy and chips The Buzz Truck: Coffee, baked goods, donut muffins and seasonal scones and muffins
  • David M. Grant Caterers: alcoholic beverages, which include beer from Black Hog Brewing Co., spiked cider from New England Cider Company, and wine
  • The Common Bond Market: salads, green salads to pasta salads, sandwiches, vegan options and dessert varieties
  • Bricks & Barley

The entertainment schedule is as follows:

  • 4 - 5 PM Quit Your Day Job - funk/jazz
  • 5 - 6 PM Monster Eats Pilot - rock
  • 6 - 7 PM Quicksand Planet - rock
  • 7 - 8 PM Father Nelson and the Backsliders - rock

Admission is free with 10 percent of the proceeds from each vendor going towards programs and services for PCRC.
