Funds Approved for Sprinkler System at Shelton High School

The installation is expected to resolve many outstanding fire code violations.

The sprinkler system, which is estimated to cost $995,000 will resolve many outstanding fire code violations at the high school.

Mayor Mark Lauretti said some of the infrastructure needed for the system was put in place a number of years ago, the paper reports. The Board of Education will apply for partial reimbursement for the project from the state.

According to the paper, 579 violations were found at the high school in a 2012 report. An outside consultant was hired in 2014 to help with fire code compliance issues.
