Goodwill Store Unlikely on Shelton's Bridgeport Ave.
Members of the planning and zoning commission did not react positively to the possibility.

The Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission did not show interest in the possibility of a Goodwill Store on Bridgeport Avenue, the Shelton Herald reports.
According to the paper, the idea was brought to the commission during an informal presentation. The area at 897-909 Bridgeport Avenue was approved for development for a large medical office a few years ago but was never developed due to low demand for new medical office space.
Members of the P&Z said the nonprofit would not generate property taxes and a site located in a prime economic location should be used for tax-producing purposes, the paper reports. Members were also concerned that the store would generate a lot of traffic.

If a Goodwill store cannot be housed at the location, the site will likely be used for residential development, the paper reports.
