House Fire Burns Through Roof Of Shelton Home: FD

A Shelton home was left uninhabitable for four residents and a dog after a house fire, according to fire officials.

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton home was left uninhabitable for four residents and a dog after a house fire broke out late Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

In a news release, fire officials said they received a report of a house on fire on Village Drive around 11:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found the fire had burned though the roof of the home, officials said. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze inside the home as crews secured a water supply.

Crews were briefly evacuated but soon returned to the house to complete the extinguishment, officials said. The fire was extinguished within 35 minutes.

All four residents and a dog safely evacuated the home without injury. The America Red Cross was brought in to assist the residents and dog with housing as the home was not habitable, according to fire officials.
