'It's Time For A Change,' CT TV News Anchor Says

Dan Corcoran is leaving NBC Connecticut after seven years.

CONNECTICUT — Dan Corcoran, a news anchor who had been at NBC Connecticut since 2015, has decided to leave the station, he announced on social media Monday.

Corcoran leaves without a specific plan for his future, and he thanked the station and his colleagues for the role they have played in his career.

"I'm thankful the station wanted me to continue on, but this is the right time to move my skills and my experience in a new direction," Corcoran wrote. "I'm eternally grateful for the colleagues and friends who have challenged me to become a stronger storyteller, a better journalist and a more effective communicator. I'm so proud of the body of work that I've helped create in this space over the last seven years."

Corcoran also served as an adjunct professor of journalism at Quinnipiac University last year, and he has held reporter positions at stations in Florida, Oregon and New Hampshire during his career.

"I'm not quite sure where my next professional chapter will take me," Corcoran said. "To be honest, that unknown is what's giving me a spark of energy that I've been missing. It feels good. I want what lies ahead to be fulfilling and impactful and to put my knowledge to use in ways that make a difference. If this sounds like wishful thinking, it's because it is. Embracing that mindset is a necessary step in bringing these thoughts into a new reality. I'm ready for more. And I've decided to bet on myself."

He credits his husband, family and friends with strengthening his confidence in deciding to make the move from the station, a decision that was hard.

"Choosing to leave a job that has been such a significant part of my life may seem like a risk - and it is," Corcoran said. "Through much contemplation, reflection and insightful conversation with so many wonderful, supportive people, it is clear that this is the best way forward. Let's continue these conversations. I'd love to talk about how our paths might cross in the future."
